Calvert Road Park
Take a 20-minute drive up to College Park, and you’ll find a great course for beginners at Calvert Road Park. Each of the 18 holes actually has two tees for twice the fun. This is the oldest course in Maryland, but it was renovated in 2000. Take some time to admire the newly added tree art. The park also has tennis and volleyball courts, play areas, and a horseshoe pit. Keep your eyes out for airplanes coming and going from the longest continuously running airport in the world which is nearby.
Arlington, Virginia, is home to Bluemont Park. The course has hills and trees that make it challenging. Each hole has three concrete tees, so it plays like 27 holes. This park also has tennis and volleyball, baseball and multi-purpose fields, and hiking trails. While you’re in the area, check out the beautiful rose blooms at Bon Air Park.
Although the course at Turkey Hill may seem out of the way, it’s a favorite among avid disc golfers. You’ll weave throughout the 70-acre park and past two lakes. Pack a picnic lunch and eat under the pavilion. Bring your four-legged friend, so he can run around the off-leash dog park. If you still have energy, take a few laps around the half-mile loop.
